Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 June 2026

The short version: Chez Maurice is self-hosted. Your data lives on your own Mac, on a server you run. We do not operate a cloud, we do not collect your data, and we have no access to it.

What the apps connect to

The Chez Maurice apps (iPhone, iPad, Mac) talk to one place: the Maurice server you choose to pair with, at the address you enter yourself (typically your own Mac, over a private HTTPS connection). The apps do not send your conversations, notes, files, or any personal content to chezmaurice.eu or to any service operated by the developer.

Data we collect

None. The apps contain no analytics, advertising, tracking, or third-party telemetry SDKs. We receive no usage data, crash data, or personal information from your use of the apps.

Where your data lives

Push notifications

If you enable notifications, Apple issues your device a push token, which the app registers with your server so it can send you notifications via Apple Push Notification service (APNs). Delivery is handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy. We do not receive your token.

AI model providers

Maurice can run on a local, on-device model, or on a cloud model you configure (for example Anthropic, OpenAI or Mistral). When you use a cloud model, your server sends the relevant conversation content to that provider to generate a response, under that provider’s own terms and privacy policy. The choice of provider — including using none — is yours. The apps never call a provider directly; everything goes through your server.

Children

Chez Maurice is a household tool intended to be set up by an adult. Any data about household members lives only on the household’s own server, under that household’s control.

Your rights

Because your data never leaves your control, you exercise your rights directly: export or delete it on your own server at any time. There is no account with us to close and no data of yours for us to return or erase.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
